You will need:

  • 5mm crochet hook - if you'd like a larger glove (or for it to be a bit more roomy), then you can use a 6.5mm hook

  • Worsted weight yarn (I used Caron Cakes %100 acrylic)

  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • sc: single crochet

  • fpdc: front post double crochet

  • bpdc: back post double crochet

Note: I understand that everyone's hands are differently sized, and as such you will need to adjust this pattern to fit your hands comfortably. The most important thing to remember is that the foundation chain must be an even number.

Additionally, this pattern does allow a bit of wiggle room (literally ;)) as it can stretch due to the type of stitches used.

Let's get crocheting!

Row 1: Foundation single crochet in a EVEN number. Slipstitch to the first chain to join. To make sure your glove will be a comfortable size, you can check by seeing if it fits around the widest part of your hand. (see below). For my hand, the foundation chain was 28sc.

Row 2 - 8: Chain 2 (does not count as dc) 1fpdc in the same stitch, 1bpdc in the next stitch. *1fpdc in the the next stitch, 1bpdc in the next.* Repeat * until the end, slip stitch to the first fpdc to join. You should have the same amount of front post double crochets and back post double crochets.

This is the cuff of the glove. You can make it longer if you'd like by adding more rows or shorter by skipping to row nine.

Row 9: Chain 2, 1 puff stitch in the same stitch, 1 puff stitch in each fpdc around, Slip stitch to join to the first puff stitch.

Row 10 - 16: Slip stitch into the space between the puff stitches. Chain 2, 1 puff stitch in the same space. 1 puff stitch in each space around. Slip stitch to the first puff stitch to join.

Now is where we will be making the thumb hole. You can make the "Hole" at any point during this row.

Row 17: Slip stitch into the space between the puff stitches, chain 1, 1 puff stitch in the same space. To make the thumb hole: chain 6, skip 3 puff stitches, puff stitch in the next space. Continue to make puff stitches until the end of the row, and slip stitch to the first puff stitch to join (see photos below for reference).

Row 18: Chain 1, puff stitch in each space around until you reach the chain. Make 5sc in the chain space (see below). Continue to make one puff stitch in each space to the end of the row, slip stitch to join to the first puff stitch.

Row 19: Slip stitch into the space between the puff stitches. Chain 2, puff stitch in the space and each space until you reach the single crochets. Make a puff stitch in every SECOND single crochet stitch (see below), then continue to make a puff stitch on each space around until you reach the end of the row, slipstitch to the first puff stitch to join.

Row 20: Slip stitch into the space between the puff stitches, chain 2, 1 puff stitch in the same space and each space around, slipstitch to the first puff stitch to join.

(If you would like your gloves to be longer and cover your fingers, you can repeat this row more times until you are happy)

Row 21: Chain 1, 1sc in every puff and every space between the puffs. Continue around, slip stitch to the first sc to join. Fasten off, weave in ends.

I loved making these fingerless gloves. They were fast and easy. I did adjust the pattern a little to keep the seam straight. I also did a decrease in the number of puff stitches after the thumb hole by decreasing the number of chain spaces. This created a better fit to the portion around the fingers. I also finished off with a row of half double crochet instead of single. My finished product fits great and everyone in the house is fighting for the next pair. Great pattern. Thanks so much for sharing.
