Clown Ruff Crochet Pattern

Updated: Mar 22, 2023

"Hello, Georgie"

You will need:

  • Worsted weight yarn in white

  • 6.5mm (K) hook

We will be tying two strands of yarn to the hook. This way, we can work up the ruff much faster :) When casting on, leave a long tail, as this will be used later to tie the ruff to your neck.

Foundation chain a length that will fit around your length comfortably.

Foundation sc chain

Row 1: chain 4, then make a treble crochet in the fourth chain from your hook. Make 2 treble crochets in each stitch of the foundation chain. Turn.

End of row 1

If this is for a child, you can make 3tr in each stitch and fasten off after row one. If it's for an adult, then keep going...;)

Row 2: Chain 4, 2tr in the same stitch. 3tr in each stitch. It will start to curl (or pucker) and create the wavy shape of the ruff. Once you have reached the end, fasten off, and weave in ends. Don't forget, you will need to attach another length of yarn to the opposite corner of the ruff so that you can tie it around you neck.

And you're done! Now you have a ruff for all your clown emergencies.
